Oakland Raiders’ Cheerleaders Resolve Wage and Hour Suit

The NFL is going to have to start paying their cheerleaders better, according to the million dollar settlement recently paid by the Oakland Raiders. As reported in the LA Times, the Raiders and many other teams apparently were paying their cheerleaders a mere $125 a game, and not paying them at all for practices, public appearances, and calendar shoots. This is far less than the minimum wage. Congratulations to the cheerleaders who had the courage to bring this lawsuit, and to their attorneys for achieving a settlement that will hopefully change the way the NFL compensates its employees.
